Kim Tran (Uncle Kim)

My name is Kim Tran, and I feel very fortunate to have turned a hobby I love into a career. I’ve been flying solo for over 10 years, and since 2019 I have been ranked #1 in Southeast Asia. Along the way, I’ve been honored to win multiple Vietnam Championships, set several local records, and represent Vietnam six times in the Paragliding World Cup. While competition has been exciting, what I love most is flying with other skilled pilots and learning from them both in the air and on the ground.

Over the past six years, I’ve had the privilege of training more than 350 students. From 2019 to 2022, I taught paragliding for the Vietnamese Air Force, and in 2023 I opened my own school, May Paragliding. May has grown into one of the best facilities in Asia, featuring a private training slope and a high take-off that allows launches in all directions.

I’m passionate about discovering and developing new flying sites. Beyond May Paragliding hub in Luong Son, I’ve explored nearly ten locations, and four are now active and thriving: B.A.D, known as the best cross-country site in Vietnam; Linh Truong 2, the top soaring site in Vietnam; Ham Rong – FlySapa, the highest launch site in the country; and Nui Coc, a premier location for SIV training in Northern Vietnam.​
