• Pickup points in Hanoi: Operator offices around Trần Nhật Duật, Trần Quang Khải and Giải Phóng, or the major bus stations (Mỹ Đình, Gia Lâm).

• Notable operators: Sao Việt, G8 Open Tour, Futa – Hà Sơn, S Trip, etc.

• Ticket price: A single cabin to Sapa runs 330,000–450,000 VND/ticket; a double cabin 650,000–800,000 VND/cabin. During peak times, contact the operator's hotline directly for the most accurate price.

Taking the Hanoi – Lào Cai Train

• Route: The train departs Hanoi station in the evening (around 9:30–10 PM) and reaches Lào Cai station around 5–6 AM the next morning.

Private Vehicle (Self-Drive / Touring)

Self-driving is a wonderful experience for those who love to travel and want to freely breathe in the Northwest breeze. Depending on your vehicle, you can choose the right route:

• By private car, it takes about 5–6 hours and 800,000–1,000,000 VND (fuel & tolls). The optimal route is: Hanoi ➔ Thăng Long Bridge ➔ Nội Bài – Lào Cai expressway ➔ Highway 4D ➔ Sapa.

• By motorbike, the journey takes 8–10 hours with fuel costs of only about 250,000 VND. Since motorbikes can't use the expressway, you can take: Hanoi ➔ Highway 32 ➔ Sơn Tây ➔ Trung Hà Bridge ➔ Thanh Sơn ➔ Thu Cúc ➔ Khau Phạ Pass ➔ Than Uyên ➔ Tân Uyên ➔ Ô Quy Hồ Pass ➔ Sapa (or via the old Highway 70).

Leg 1: Fly to Nội Bài Airport (Hanoi)

Book a flight from your nearest airport to Nội Bài Airport (Hanoi).

Leg 2: Straight from Nội Bài Airport up to Sapa

Many travelers mistakenly think they must take a taxi from Nội Bài Airport into central Hanoi and only then catch a bus to Sapa. This is extremely time-consuming and costly.

In reality, Nội Bài Airport is right next to the road up to the Nội Bài – Lào Cai expressway. So most sleeper-bus and VIP-cabin operators to Sapa offer pickup right at the Nội Bài junction (about 2 km from the airport, with the operator's shuttle coming to collect you) or directly at the T1/T2 terminal halls.
