Nha Trang Paragliding Site Review

Nha Trang is famous for its blue sea and beautiful sunshine, but few people know it also has a very complete paragliding site: easy to access, scenic, and with stable weather almost year-round. This is an objective review based on real experiences from both passengers and pilots to help you decide for yourself whether this flying site suits you.

1. Location, Facilities & The Ride Up The Mountain

The flying site is 20–30 minutes from central Nha Trang, very convenient for visitors staying in the city. The whole process starts at the landing zone, where you check in and wait to fly. The space is large, with plenty of shade, drinking water, and food at reasonable prices. The atmosphere is very chill and relaxed.

You travel up to the Hòn Én take-off in a dedicated 4x4 vehicle, which takes about 20–25 minutes. The dirt road is being improved day by day - not too bumpy, but just enough to become a fun "mini off-road" part of the experience.

2. The Hòn Én Take-Off - Altitude, Scenery and Safety

The take-off sits 500 m above the landing zone, about 520 m above sea level — fairly average by commercial standards.

From here a special view opens up: the blue sea right in front of you and the city in the distance, creating a sense of both openness and depth.

The take-off area is very wide, able to lay out many wings at once, with artificial grass and facing straight out to sea to catch the wind. Facilities are complete: shade, rest areas, toilets and a check-in spot. This is one of the most beautiful and safest coastal take-off sites in Vietnam.

3. Weather - The Big Advantage Behind a Very High Fly Rate

Nha Trang is blessed with plenty of sun, little rain, and stable wind.

The rainy season is concentrated only in September–October, and even then it's mostly passing showers rather than prolonged rain.

This gives a very high success rate for flights, with almost none of the multi-day postponements or cancellations seen at northern flying sites. This is why many group and international guests choose Nha Trang to keep their schedules secure.

5. Operating Team & Safety

The site is operated by FlyVietnam (formerly FlyNhaTrang), one of the longest-running and most stable operators in the region.

The pilots are well trained, familiar with the Hòn Én terrain, and very good at handling technical situations. Included services cover video, insurance, drinking water, and shuttle transport (depending on the package).

Notably: there has never been a recorded safety incident. The site currently has over 300 reviews at 5 stars on Google.

Personally, coming here, I felt a warm, friendly, family-like atmosphere. The company invited me to a simple meal together with the pilots and support team.

6. Key Information for Solo Pilots

Nha Trang isn't only suited to tandem passengers - it's also a good training site for pilots.

Thermals & flying conditions

  • Thermals are active year-round (except the rainy season).

  • Thermals are strongest in the morning.

  • In the afternoon the sea breeze picks up and thermals weaken or shut off, so fly early.

Training space & XC

  • The "around the site" XC route is about 30 points - enough to practice thermalling, ridge flying, observation skills, and wing handling.

  • Especially suitable for pilots wanting to "keep their feel" or maintain their skills.

Important safety notes

  • Strong bubbles can appear near the ground, especially on hot sunny days, so stay highly focused and keep the wing responsive.

  • You must register your flight with the company before 2 PM the day before so the legal paperwork can be prepared. Without prior registration, you may lose time or be unable to fly.
